The High Court (HC) on Tuesday asked the government to inform the court whether it has any round-the-year Aedes mosquitoes elimination programme.
It asked the government lawyer to inform the court about the matter by Monday next week.
The HC Division Bench of Justice Tarik Ul Hakim and Md Suhrawardy gave the order on Tuesday.
The court said, since the dengue has taken a serious turn this year, there is no guarantee that it would not occur next time.
The HC said, experts from the very beginning of the year were warning about the possible spread of Aedes mosquitoes, but the two city corporations did not take it into cognizance.
It said, from the very beginning the city corporations should have taken steps in this regard by identifying the possible places.
