The High Court has ordered authorities to resurrect a case against five including three policemen accused of blinding a pro-BNP activist in custody.
Saiful Islam Sumon, a vice-president of BNP’s youth wing Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal at Chandipur Union, lost one of his eyes during the alleged torture at Lakshmipur’s Ramganj Police Station following his arrest on Aug 7, 2014.

Noor Patwari at the Lakshmipur District Sessions Judges Court was scrapped based on recommendations from a judicial probe. On Tuesday, justices M Enayetur Rahim and Amir Hossain of a High Court bench cancelled the lower court’s order after hearing a revision pleas sought by the case’s plaintiff.
“There are no more legal hurdles before the case against the five accused,” said Iqbal Hossain, the lawyer who represented the plaintiff. They are Ramganj Police Station OC Lokman Hossain, SI Mojammel Hossain, ASI Shariful Islam; and Lutfur Rahman and Abdul Momin.
