The High Court (HC) yesterday directed the law enforcing agencies not to harass and arrest BNP leader Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel without any specific case or any arrest order after his release from the jail.
A HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order. Earlier, a writ petition was filed by Sohel seeking
necessary order asking the law enforcers not to harass or arrest him without specific case, after his release from the jail custody.
BNP Joint Secretary General Sohel’s lawyer Advocate M Masud Rana told newsmen, his client got bail from the High Court and subordinate courts in all 147 criminal cases filed with different police stations since 2013.
However, he feared, he might be arrested again after getting released from Keraniganj jail. Earlier, he was detained on March 6 after his release, his counsel told the apex court during the hearing on the writ petition.
On October 9 last year, BNP leader Sohel, who is also the President of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, was sent to the jail after he surrendered to a Dhaka court in 41 arson cases filed with different police stations of the capital.
