HC issues arrest warrant against 14 PLFSL loan defaulters

The High Court on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against 14 loan defaulters of Peoples Leasing and Financial Services Limited (PLFSL), a non-banking financial institution, as the defaulters were not responding with the company.
The High Court bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order after holding hearing on a petition filed by PLFSL.
Among the 14 officials, three officials of Nahar International, one of SS Filling Station, one of Badhon Food Industries, one of Shova International Limited, two officials of Jayson Pharmaceuticals including its managing director, one official of Jayson Agrovet, one of Jayson Breeders and one of Jayson Natural Products Limited, Sameer Quader Chowdhury, Samihah Quader Chowdhury and Sazia Quader Chowdhury.
The authorities of the PLFSL on November 27 this year filed a petition with the High Court against its 21 loan defaulters including these 14 saying that the clients were not responding with them, said Barrister Mejbahur Rahman, a counsel for the PLFSL.
But in the meantimes six of the defaulters have already communicated with the PLFSL and one defaulter is sick.
After hearing on the petition, the court on Thursday issued arrest warrant against the 14 persons. The court asked the concerned agencies to produce them in the court on January 9 in 2022 and the court also fixed that day for further order on the issue.
The court on July 13 this year formed a new board of directors for the PLFSL and asked the loan defaulters to communicate with the new board to reschedule their loans. As per the High Court direction the new board was communicating with the defaulters, but 27 of them were not responding with the PLFSL. Then they moved the court for remedy.
