UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why they should not be directed to take necessary steps to stop strike by doctors and nurses in order to ensure uninterrupted medical services. An HC bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice AKM Shahidul Huq passed the order following a public interest litigation petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). In the rule, the court also wanted to know why the
inactiveness of the respondents to bring an end to strike by doctors and nurses should not be declared illegal.
The health secretary, the director general of the Directorate General of Health Services and the directors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, BSMMU, Mitford Hospital and Suhrawardy Hospital among 23 have been made respondents to the rule.
