HC directs to appoint 38 BCS candidates within 60 days

The High Court on Wednesday directed the government to appoint 38 candidates, who passed the 36th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exam, but appointments were not given. So, the authorities are asked again to appoint them from the date of PSC’s recommendation.
The government has been asked to appoint the
candidates in their respective posts within 60 days after receiving the High Court judgement.
The court also declared the government decision to drop them from the recruitment process as “illegal”.
The HC bench of Justice Md Ashraful Kamal and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil delivered the verdict after hearing a writ petitions filed by the deprived candidates, challenging the legality of the government decision.
Advocate Md Salahuddin Dolon appeared in the court on behalf of the candidates while Deputy Attorney General Wayesh Al Haruni stood for the state.
Advocate Salahuddin Dolon said that his clients passed the BCS examination and Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) had recommended the government for their appointment. But the authorities concerned did not give them appointment nor an explanation as to why they were not recruited, he added.
The government will have to give the appointments and provide the candidates with the salaries and benefits from the date of publishing the gazette of the 36th BCS on July 31, 2018, also added the lawyer.
PSC recommended five candidates for the admin cadre, one for foreign cadre, 21 for education cadre, six for agriculture cadre, two for health cadre, one for information cadre and two for livestock cardre, said a press release provided by the lawyer.
Earlier on January 28, 2019, the same High Court bench directed the government to appoint 27 candidates of 34th and 35th BCS exams.
