The High Court on Tuesday cleared the way for Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) to hold the 41st BCS preliminary examination on March 19 following the health guidelines.
The court summarily rejected a writ petition seeking an order on the PSC to defer the date for holding the BCS preliminary test citing health risk due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The HC, however, directed the authorities concerned to follow the health guidelines strictly during holding examination on March 19.
The bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder came up with the order after hearing arguments on the petition.
Raihan Sultan, a candidate for the 41st BCS exam, filed the petition seeking necessary order for holding the preliminary test some days later on the scheduled date.
Nahid Sultana Juthi, a lawyer for the petitioner, told reporters the PSC would take necessary decision over deferring the date if the pandemic situation deteriorates at that time.
During hearing of the petition, Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar told the court that PSC has taken all preparations for holding the preliminary test on March 19 and it is not possible now to defer the date.
