Staff Reporter :
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Sunday passed ‘no order’ on five separate petitions filed by the State seeking stay on a High Court order that granted bail to BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed in five cases for street violence.
The cases were filed with Paltan, Jatrabari, Mirpur, Mohammadpur and Khilgaon Police Stations on charges of carrying out
subversive activities, including vandalism and torching vehicles and hurling crude bombs, during the BNP led 20-party alliance strike after the January 5 general election.
But Rizvi cannot be released from the jail as he had been shown arrested in other criminal cases.
The High Court, on September 7, granted six months’ bail to Rizvi in five cases.
