HC asks Chandpur DC to settle plea filed over Khas land

The High Court has directed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chandpur district to dispose of a representation filed against the illegal grabbing and construction in the Khas land of a cannel under Nijmeher mouza of Shahrasti upazila upon making due enquiry of the issue in question in accordance with law within eight weeks after receipt its order.
It also issued a ruling asking the DC of Chandpur district to explain as to why his inaction in disposing of the
representation filed against the illegal grabbing and construction in the Khas land of a cannel under Nijmeher mouza of Shahrasti upazila shall not be declared illegal.
The DC has been asked to comply with the ruling within November 29.
The High Court Bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice SM Maniruzzaman passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.
Md Monir Hossain and nine other residents of the Shahrasti upazila filed the petition with the High Court recently.
Lawyer Md Golam Rahman Bhuiyan appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.
