The High Court (HC) on Wednesday issued an order allowing Japanese citizen Nakano Eriko to spend nights with her daughters Makano Jasmine Malika, 11, and Makano Laila Lina, 9, at their Gulshan flat and take them outside.
A High Court Division bench comprising Justice M. Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after holding a hearing on a plea filed by Nakano.
The court in its latest order said Nakano can stay with her daughters exclusively on the nights of September 9, 11, 13 and 15, while the children will say with their father, Bangladesh-born US citizen Sharif Imran, on Wednesday.
“During the daytime, the daughters will stay with their father and he will be able to take them outside for a few hours,” the order added.
Meanwhile, the court also asked the chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission
(BTRC) to take necessary steps to remove defamatory videos against Eriko Nakano. The court also asked the authorities concerned to identify the people behind making and uploading the videos online.
The High Court on August 31 ordered Sharif Imran and his wife Nakano Eriko to live at a Gulshan flat together for 15 days with their two daughters.
The court issued the order as the estranged couple had failed to reach a consensus on where and with whom their two daughters will live, in spite of repeated instructions from the court.
According to the court order, both the parents will bear the expenses of the flat jointly and they will be able to spend private time with their daughters.
The deputy director of the Department of Social Services will look over the matter and the commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has been asked to ensure the safety of the family.
