UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Monday stayed for six months the admission policy of the Education Ministry that asked colleges to enroll students of higher secondary level on the basis of SSC results, allowing Notre Dame, Holy Cross and St Joseph colleges to hold tests for admission.
An HC vacation bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Iqbal Kabir passed the order upon hearing on a writ petition filed by the principals of the three colleges challenging the admission policy.
The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why the admission policy of the Education Ministry would not be declared illegal.
Three, including the Education Secretary and the Dhaka Education Board Chairman, have been made respondents to the rule.
Lawyer of the petitioners Fida M Kamal said the three colleges would be able to hold entrance tests for students due to the High Court order.
