Hawker stabbed to death in city

Two addicts went to a temporary metal shop and stabbed the shop owner (hawker) to death in the city’s Shahbagh area on Tuesday morning.
Deceased Noor Nabi, 23, was a hawker at Shahbag intersection. He used to sell various items, including knife on the foot over bridge, said Ramna Police Station Officer in-Charge Kazi Mainul Islam.
Quoting witnesses, OC Mainul said that Noor and one Khairul, 43, locked into an altercation on the foot over bridge around 9:00am. At one stage, Khairul grabbed a knife from the hawker and stabbed in his throat, leaving him critically injured. Noor was rushed to
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead. Angered by the incident, local people gave Khairul a good thrashing, leaving him seriously injured. Later he was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, the OC said.
A case was filed with the police staion in this connection, he said.
The body was sent to DMCH mortuary for an autopsy, he added
Contacted, Ramna Zone Deputy Commissioner Maruf Hossain Sarder said that Khairul was a drug addict.
