Hawker stabbed to death by his fellows in city

A hawker was stabbed dead and another injured during an altercation with a fellow at Chandni Chawk Market in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Khokon Mollah, 24, a resident of Kamrangirchar in the city. He used to sell clothes on a foot over-bridge in the New Market area.
The injured, Babul Bepari, 40, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition, police said.
“The clash occurred at 3:00pm among the hawkers of New Market, Gausia and Chadni Chawk Market, leaving Khokon Molla and Abul Bepari seriously injured. The locals took them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared Khokon dead,” said Maruf Hossain Sarder, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division.
According to the DC, the hawkers were having lunch together and after lunch, Shahabuddin stabbed two persons with sharp weapons. The reason behind this is still unknown.
The police are trying to arrest Shahabuddin, the police official said.
The witness and shop owner Shahabuddin said that Shamim Mollah stabbed Khokon Mollah and other but managed to flee the scene.
Shamim is the brother-in-law of slain Khokon, he said.
The filing of a case was under processing with the New Market Police Station in this connection, said Matlubur Rahman, Inspector of the PS.
