Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has underwent a successful gallbladder surgery in the US, says a spokesperson for her office.
The Bangladesh leader, in her 70s, has been advised to rest, the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said in a statement on Wednesday.
The surgery was performed on Sept 25 around 8pm local time.
Hasina was taken to “a local hospital” after she complained of stomach pain, the statement said.
“She has been recovering from her surgery and was now in good health”.
Hasina, who was in New York to attend the UN general assembly, will return to Bangladesh on Oct 5.
