West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to her (Mamata) second oath taking ceremony scheduled for May 27 in Kolkata.
BBC in its report said that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is unlikely to attend Mamata’s oath ceremony on May 27, as she (Hasina) is likely to attend a pre-schedule programme on the day.
However, if she (Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina) is unable to attend Mamata’s oath ceremony, an important member of her cabinet will attend the programme
When contacted Ihsanul Karim, press secretary to Prime Minister said no decision has been taken in this regard yet.
Among others on the guest list are President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal, Suresh Prabhu, Sonia Gandhi, Ahmed Patel, Lalu Prasad, Nitish Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav.
“A host of national and international leaders, including Modi and his Bangladheshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina and Bhutanese leader Tshering Tobgay are being invited for the ceremony,” a Trinamool Congress leader said yesterday.
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who on Friday staked claim to form the government in the state for the second term, said that unlike in 2011 when the oath-taking venue was the Raj Bhavan, the swearing in this time will be held at the Red Road (Indira Gandhi Sarani).
“The oath taking ceremony will be held at the Red Road so that more people can witness it,” Mamata said. The Trinamool Congress swept to power, bagging 211 of the 294 Assembly seats.
