Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday had a meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and discussed matters of bilateral interests, including the Rohingya issue.
“On the sidelines of the CHOGM, the two leaders held the meeting at Lancaster House and discussed bilateral issues,” Foreign Secretary
Md Shahidul Haque told reporters after the meeting. Replying to a question, he said issues like Rohingya and Teesta came up for discussions. The Bangladesh and Indian prime ministers also discussed the issue of the Commonwealth. While talking about the Rohingya issue, Haque observed that India has changed its position on this issue, which is “much closer to us”. “India is helping us rehabilitee the Rohingyas,” he said. The foreign secretary the issue of inauguration of “Bangladesh House” at Biswa Bharati University in Indian state of West Bengal in the presence of the two premiers came up for discussion.
