Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud urged the young leaders and activists of the party to become polite before the countrymen.
“If polite manner is associated with country’s development under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter, then the people of the country will again give their mandate to AL for running the country,” he said.
He said that AL came to the state power three times in a row due to the visionary and courageous leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Many leaders and activists of AL are showing laziness. This laziness is not desirable at all. We have to remember that there has been run a lot of development in the country, our young activists have to project that development before the countrymen,” he added.
He said this while addressing a discussion meeting as chief guest on the occasion of 40th Homecoming Day of Jononetri Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday
afternoon organized by Chattogram City AL held at Chattogram Theater Institute auditorium.
Acting President of City AL Mahatab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function while former city Mayor and City AL General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin and City Mayor and Joint Secretary of city AL Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and senior AL leaders spoke as special guests. Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that those who were against Bangabandhu and didn’t want the independence of this country had plotted conspiracy against him.
“Those who have failed to deal with Bangabandhu’s daughter politically are still hatching conspiring against her. That’s why Dr. Jafar Ullah Chowdhury and Mizanur Rahman Minu, man of Dhaka and Rajshahi, again hinting at an August 15,” Hasan said. “So we have to keep our eyes and ears open. There have been many conspiracies over the last 40 years, we have heard for 21 years that the AL would never be able to come to power,” he said. “But reality is that the AL has come to power four times under the leadership of Janonetri Sheikh Hasina due to her dynamic leadership,” Hasan said.
He said that after return of Bangabandhu’s daughter in Bangladesh on April 17 in 1981, she wanted to arrange a milad at Dhanmondi No 32 to pray for the departed souls of August 15 victims, including Bangabandhu.
“But the daughter of Bangabandhu had compelled to join the milad on the street in front of Dhanmondi 32. She was not even allowed to go to native village Tungipara,” Hasan added.
The minister said that the-then government of Ziaur
Rahman had hatched many conspiracies to prevent Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina for not coming to the country.
“The-then Prime Minister Shah Azizur Rahman of the Zia government told a press conference that if Sheikh Hasina came to the country, there would be anarchy in the country. Ignoring many bloodshot eyes and conspiracies, she came to Bangladesh on 17 May, 1971 ignoring risk of her life. She did not hesitate to come to her country,” Hasan added.
Dr Hasan said that Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has freed democracy from the military camp in which Bangabandhu was imprisoned.
