Harvesting of T-Aman complete

Harvesting of transplanted (T) Aman has been complete in all five upazilas of the district.
Official sources said, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) had set a target to cultivate T-Aman paddy on a total of 67,485 hectares of land in the district this year for producing 1,77,643 tonnes of rice.
The cultivation target was fully achieved after blissful rainfall though the transplantation of Aman seedlings was hampered at the initial stage of the season due to prevailing drought like situation.
Later, the target fixed by the department was exceeded by bringing more 4,230 hectares of land under the cultivation.
The growers completed harvesting with much enthusiasm and bumper production this season.
To make the cultivation programme a success, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) distributed high quality Aman seeds to the farmers of the district at fair prices.
Besides, different state run commercial banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank disbursed agri loans on easy terms to the poor and marginal farmers of the district to facilitate cultivation of paddy on their land.
Deputy Director of DAE AZM Sabbir Ebne Zahan said, favourable climatic condition, proper distribution of high quality seeds by BADC and timely supply of fertilizers and other agri inputs to the growers are the reasons for getting desired production of the crop.
Apart from this, DAE also provided training programmes to the farmers of the district for adopting modern technologies of paddy cultivation, crop management and preservation of quality seeds, he said.
Mollah Samsul Alom, an ideal farmer of Kamorgram area under Bambu union of Sadar upazila said farmers’ community was much happy as they got desired output and fair prices against their produce.
