Harvesting of ropa Aus paddy is progressing fast in all the four upazilas of the district during this season amid much enthusiasm to the farmers.
Department of Agriculture Extension office sources said a total of 21,730 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation in the district with the production target of 87,000 tonnes of paddy.
Of the total, some 28,000 tonnes would be produced in Sadar upazila, 14,000 tonnes in Alamdanga upazila, 27,400 tonnes in Damurhuda upazila and 16,800 tonnes in Jibannagar upazila, DAE office said.
