Sylhet Correspondent :
The blockade and off and on hartal, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance, going on for the last forty days have neither put any remarkable impact nor got any positive result in the frontier district.
In fact, most of the leaders and supporters of BNP and Jamaat went into hiding to avoid arrest for which their achievement in the so-called movement is almost zero.
According to local Awami League (AL) sources, due to the strong stand of AL leaders and the effective steps taken by the local administration, transport sectors are active and unhindered in the district. The daily basis activities in public and private offices including banks, insurances, hospitals, clinics, educational institutions, business establishments are going on smoothly.
Supply of diesel, chemical fertilisers and other agro-based inputs are normal.
Besides, the leaders of local AL including its front organisation kept courageous supports through regular meeting and procession, the sources added.
M.A Haque member of BNP’s central committee said, their achievement is to get the people understand that the national election held on 5 January 2014 was farce one.
A few buses and coaches are plying on the roads under police security; it is not the credit of Awami league.
He clearly spoke that the BNP and its allies do politics for the people, so they do not believe in violent politics.
“BNP does not have any trust in taking possession of field because we are on the roads in order to rescue the democracy,” he added.
