Business Desk :
About two lakh families of North Bengal have been involved in ‘Door to Door (D2D)’, which is an awareness campaign on toilet hygiene, an initiative taken by Harpic under the umbrella of “Porichchonno Bangladesh”.
Through this special campaign, the activities of creating awareness on toilet hygiene were carried out in different areas of Rajshahi, Sirajganj, and Pabna throughout the month of May.
Under this campaign, the representative team of Harpic took part in implementing plans of spreading the message of hygiene awareness in every home of these areas.
According to JMP/WHO, 1crore and 80 lakh people are deprived of appropriate hygiene facilities in rural areas. 5 crore people are exposed to very limited hygiene facilities. Only 3 crore people have basic hygiene facilities. In urban areas, 55 lakh people have no hygiene facility.
Throughout this May, Harpic spread awareness in more than 1 lakh 75 thousand families of Rajshahi, Pabna and Sirajganj.
Harpic has been hosting these types of campaigns regularly for the last few years. Harpic’s representative team plans to continue this awareness in the future by gathering some useful information.
As per the updates of UNICEF JMP, Rajshahi lacks behind the other regions of the country. As per the latest data, 19.24% people of Rajshahi are exposed to no hygiene facilities. 30.16% people are getting limited hygiene facilities and 50.60% population is exposed to very basic hygiene facilities.
These statistics prompted Harpic to initiate the campaign from that region. As per JMP data, only 24.3% families use proper sanitation (water shield) and 37.9% of the population use unhygienic sanitation. Alarmingly, 9.2% of the population in Rajshahi has no sanitation system.
There are many families in Rajshahi, Sirajganj and Pabna who are not very aware of toilet hygiene. As a result, it increases the possibilities of these people developing diseases like diarrhea, dysentery, and cholera.
If we keep our toilet clean and sterilized, we can stop spreading these diseases. Harpic, the most popular and widely used toilet cleaner brand of Bangladesh, is continuing to carry out D2D activities to increase the awareness. As a part of this campaign, Harpic’s representatives have spread the basic messages of toilet hygiene and cleanliness to the people.
