Today is the birthday of noted singer Tapan Chowdhury and popular singer Ankhi Alamgir. This year’s birthday will be something different to Ankhi because few days ago, she received the National Film Award after 35 years. Earlier she got the award as a child artiste for acting in late Amzad Hossain’s movie Bhat Dey. After 35 years, she got the award as a singer.
According to Ankhi, she will pass the day with her family only. Ankhi acted in film Bhat Dey, while Tapan Chowdhury lent his voice for play-back song of same movie. In Tapan’s voice, the play-back song titled Koto kandlam koto go sadhlam ailana got popularity among the music-lovers during that time.
Tapan Chowdhury came to Bangladesh few days ago to perform in several stage shows. As usual, he has to celebrate his birthday in Bangladesh. He has no special plan to celebrate the day. He said, “Basically when birthday comes I miss my parents. I am missing my wife and son. I remember my mentor in music late Ustad Priyoda Ranjan Sen, Ustad Mihir Lala, among others. Everybody pray for me as I can reamin well. On January 18, I will go to Rajshahi to perform in a stage show.”
Ankhi Alamgir said, “In fact, round the year I have to be engaged with various activities. So, I did not keep any schedule on my birthday. I want to pass the day by own way. With Allah’s blessing round the year I remain busy with stage shows. Listeners of the country’s remote area hear my songs and also mention my father’s name – it is really a great achievement to me.”
