Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court yesterday sent Dr MA Hannan Feroz, incumbent Chairman of Stamford University’s Trustee Board to jail on completion of a two-day remand in a case filed in connection with gun attack on Awami League’s Central Working Committee member AKM Enamul Haque Shamim.Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj passed the order rejecting a bail petition submitted on behalf of Dr Hannan. Advocate Mosharraf Hossain Kajal moved the petition seeking bail of the accused. However, the prosecution did not take any step seeking more remand of Dr Hannan. On July 21, Dr Hannan, former Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University, was placed on two-day fresh remand on completion of six-day remand granted on July 16 in the same case.Of the eight accused, four so far made confessions admitting their involvement in the incident Under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.On July 16, plain-clothe police arrested Dr Hannan from his residence in the city’s Dhanmondi area.On June 19, Enamul Haque Shamim came under the gun attack of a gang of miscreants in front of Stamford University campus, Dhanmondi.On July 8, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested seven persons, including two alleged masterminds, from the capital, Rajbari and Mymensingh on charge of their involvement in the alleged attack.
