Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court yesterday (Wednesday) placed Dr MA Hannan Feroz, founder and former Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University on a six-day remand in a case filed for gun attack on Awami League Central Working Committee member AKM Enamul Haque Shamim.Magistrate Hasibul Haque passed the order after Detective Branch Police Inspector and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Shamsuddin Saleh Ahmed Chowdhury produced Dr Hannan to the court seeking a 10-day remand to quiz him in the case. Hannan is also the incumbent chairman of Stamford University’s Trustee Board. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations and Mass Media), Md Masudur Rahman told newsmen that Hannan was arrested from his Dhanmondi residence of the capital in the early morning of Wednesday for his alleged involvement in the gun attack on Shamim, who was also a former President of Bangladesh Chhatra League.On June 19, Shamim came under gun attack by a group of miscreants in front of Stamford University at Dhanmondi. He was first rushed to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital and then Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.The following day, his uncle Nasir Uddin lodged a case with Dhanmondi Police Station.On July 8, members of the RAB and the Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested seven persons, including two alleged masterminds, in the city, Rajbari and Mymensingh for their involvement in the alleged gun attack.
