Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court yesterday (Monday) placed Dr MA Hannan Feroz, former Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University, on a two-day fresh remand after he was produced to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on completion of six-day remand granted on July 16 in the case filed in connection with the gun attack on Awami League’s Central Working Committee member Enamul Haque Shamim.Magistrate Atqul Haque of the CMM Court granted the remand after hearing on the remand pleas of the Investigation Officer (IO), who sought a seven-day remand of the accused. Of the eight accused in the case till Sunday, four made confessions in the case under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.On July 16 in the early hours, plain-clothe police arrested Dr Hannan, who is the incumbent Chairman of the university’s Trustee Board, from his residence in the city’s Dhanmondi area for his alleged involvement in the gun attack on Shamim, a former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) chief.On June 19, Enamul Haque Shamim came under the gun attack of a gang of miscreants in front of Stamford University campus, Dhanmondi.On July 8, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested seven persons including two alleged masterminds, from the capital, Rajbari and Mymensingh on the charge of their involvement in the alleged attack.
