BNP standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah on Wednesday demanded unconditional release of journalists Shafik Rehman, Mahmudur Rahman and Shawkat Mahmud, while addressing a discussion meeting at National Press Club.
The BNP leader said the next movement would be constructive and well- organised.
“We need to plan about the program with the party chief Begum Khaleda Zia or else, who would be
able to lead the movement,” he said. Hannan Shah accused the government of imprisoning Journalists Shafik Rehman, Shawkat Mahmud and Mahmudur Rahman without any acceptable cause. He demanded immediate release of them.
Hannan Shah accused the government, election commission and administration of looting the voting rights of the people in UP polls.
He said the media was misguiding the people by publishing false news under pressure of information minister.
