Handloom and power loom industries are getting popularity as the winter season is knocking at the door of animal and people under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district. About 1200 weavers and workers are managing the family expenditure depend on their ancestral profession for a long time here in six union of the upazila. But these industries are facing serious problem and are the verge of closure due to price hike of thread and other raw materials of pit and power loom.
The involved men and women are being unemployed nearly 50 percent producing of handloom and power loom remain inoperative. Gunaher and Gobindapur union under the upazila especially Futanigonj, Nurpur as well as sadar village are famous for producing different artistic chador and blanket. Besides, different Lungi, Saree, Bedseet, Napkin, towel and mosquito nets also producing here. Now production of, different Lungi, Saree, Bedseet, Napkin, towel and mosquito nets factories declined alarmingly and about 50 percent of these looms are closed.
