Miscreants attacked policemen and snatched away a handcuffed accused from them in Tabaler Char Bazar area of Kutubdia upazila on Sunday evening.
Ongsa Thoyai, officer-in-charge of Kutubdia Police Station, said on secret information a team of police led by assistant sub-inspector Aminul, conducted a drive in the area and arrested fugitive murder accused Kader, 23, son of Mahamudul Hasan, a resident of the area, around 7pm.
Later on the ways to the police station, a gang of miscreant attacked them and snatched the handcuffed accused injuring five policemen.
The injured policemen are ASI Aminul Islam, 40, four police constables-Yousuf, 27, Rezaul, 26, Ashim Barua, 25, Ropon Sen, 25, and Sunny Barua, 25.
The injured were admitted at Kutubdia Health Complex.
