Hand washing day was observed in Kishoreganj Thursday with a call to stop the defecation in open space and improve sanitation and hygiene systems across the country.
This year’s theme of the day was ‘Hand Hygiene for All. Marking the day, the department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE) and district administration chalked out elaborate programmes in cooperation with a number of non-government organizations (NGO s).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury inaugurated a hand washing demonstration on the premises of District Collectorate Building around 10.30 am.
Police Super (SP) Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) and Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. Mujibur Rahman attended as special guest.
Later, a virtual discussion presided over by Public Health Engineering Department executive engineer Mashiur Rahman took place.
The speakers in their speeches underscored the need for creating much awareness among the people particularly chars and river basin dwellers of the district about the use of sanitary latrines, safe drinking water and following hygienic rules for a better and disease-free society.
