BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury visited the Economic Zone Moidhya Char in Nilkomol union under Haimchar Upazila across the Meghna river on Friday noon. DC Mazedur Rahman Khan accompanied him along with Md Harunor Rashid, member of BEZA and Additional Secretary. Besides, ADC (Rev) Ashim Chadra Banik, UNO Ferdousi Begum, Upazila Chairman Noor Hossain Patwary, Land officials and press men also accompanied the team. The Chairman saw for himself different areas of the Economic Zone – located at 10 km west from Upazila Headquarters across the river Meghna. Afterward at a meeting held in Moidhya char with DC in the chair, the Chairman told all that as per her commitment, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already allocated and approved a big area of land covering 8201 acres for Economic Zone recently (on 7 December). He has said, ”The work of this project will start in next two months. The entire work will be completed in next two years. Then the Economic Zone will be another town where many establishments like embankment along river bank, hospital, Thana, Rest House, roads, culverts, many other related offices will be set up and then the area will certainly see a spectacular development works as like as a town, instead of a village”.
It may be noted here that the Prime Minister during her visit to Haimcharon 1st April, 2018, assuredthe people that an Economic Zone would be set up in Haimchar Upazila where the whole Economic Zone areas beside the river would be humming with activities. In line with this assurance, the work of this Economic Zone will start work in next two months. After completing the work, the entire area will be spectacularly changed-to the surprise of all.
Meanwhile, the people of Haimchar and Chandpur Sadar are too delighted to see this Herculean project being implemented so early. For this laudable work, they expressed their gratitude to the PM and the local MP Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
Contacted, local people – Haimchar Govt College Principal Monowar Hossain, Advocate Md Beniyamin, Bajapti Romoni Mohan High School Headmaster Mannan Shikder, Press Club President Khurshid Alam, local Awami League leaders and ordinary people have termed this project of the Govt as a milestone in the history of the district and Haimchar. They have also expressed deep sense of gratitude to the PM and the Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
