UNB, Habiganj :A court here on Sunday sent Habiganj municipality mayor and Golam Kibrai Gaus to jail, rejecting his bail prayer in a case filed in connection with the killing of former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria.Senior Judicial Magistrate Rokeya Akhter passed the order when GK Gous, also district BNP general secretary, surrendered before the Habiganj Cognizance Court-1 around 11:30am, seeking bail.Earlier on December 21, Senior Judicial Magistrate Rashid Ahmed Milon, Judge of the Habiganj Cognizance Court-2, accepted the supplementary chargesheet filed against 35 people by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police in connection with the killing of five people, including Shah AMS Kibria.Three of the accused have been dropped from the chargesheet while 21 shown arrested, eight on bail and 11 remain fugitive.The supplementary chargesheet was submitted by CID assistant superintendent of police Meherunnesa Khanam on November 13, implicating former State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s political secretary Harris Chowdhury and Sylhet City mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, in the Kibria murder case.
