Just four days after being suspended, Habiganj Municipality Mayor GK Gaus on Thursday took up his elected post.
He joined office around 11:30am, with officials of the municipality office
giving him a floral welcome. On Sunday, the government suspended Gaus for a second time, just hours after he joined office having served an earlier three-year suspension. The move drew widespread condemnation.
The High Court on Tuesday stayed the latest suspension following Gaus’s writ petition.
