Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) detained an organiser of banned militant outfit Hizb- ut-Tahrir from the port city’s Chawkbazar area early Monday.
The arrested was identified as Sohan Yasir Ikbal, 28, hailed from Fatikchhari upazila of the district.
Acting on secret information, a team of Kotwali police arrested him from his Devpahar residence at city’s Chawkbazar area around 9:30pm, police said.
Sohan, graduated from Chittagong University, used to work as an organiser of the banned militant outfit in different universities and was earlier arrested for his involvement with the organisation, said SM Tanvir Arafat, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) CMP.
Sohan was taken to CMP, DB headquarters for interrogation, police said.
