The gun-toting Chhattra League men, who openly brandished firearms during the February, 2, violence at Rajshahi University (RU) were seen roaming freely on the campus before the law enforcers.
Earlier, on February 2, BCL men and police swooped on the agitating students on the campus and fired at will who were protesting the fees hike and evening masters’ courses that left over 100 students injured including 20 bullet-hit.
The six BCL men, organizing secretaries Shamsuzzaman Emon and Faisal Ahmed, joint secretary Nasim Ahmed Setu, Environment affairs secretary Mustakim Billah, deputy publicity secretary Anwarul Islam Shuvro and former joint secretary Sudipto Salam were caught on camera by photojournalists of the newspapers and television channels while shooting with guns during the violence.
Among them, Nasim Ahmed Setu, Sudipto Salam, Mustakim Billah and Faisal Ahmed were seen wandering freely on the campus since last few days.
However, the probed committee has failed to submit investigation report of the incident though one month and twenty seven days already have been passed since the violence.
On contacted, Saidur Rahman, Officer in Charge of Rajshahi city detective branch of police told that they had been working according to the rules adding that they were not known about roaming the BCL armed men on the campus.
On the other hand, the university authorities could not withdraw the case filed against the general students as they have got the probe report yet.
The head of the probed body Prof Dr. Khalrkuzzaman said, fifteen days also necessary to complete the investigation as we have to contact with all the parties related to the incident.
“We could not contact either with the complaint or the accused party for the better investigation of the incident as the university was closed for long terms”, he added.
Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, the pro vice chancellor of the university told that the probed body has been asked to submit the report as soon as possible.
The proper steps would be taken against the responsible person after getting the report.
