Gumani Bridge not completed in 11 years , 4th phase starts

Construction of bridge over Gumani River on Bhangura-Naogaon road in Pabna has not been completed in eleven years.
Only 58 percent of work of the bridge has been completed but the sub-structure of the bridge has almost been completed while only guarder out of fefteen super structure has been finished.
Four contractors have been failed. Up to the current financial year, the fourth contractor IT and N.M JV Bera, Pabna started the construction work of the bridge. Tk.3 crore and 8 lakh was sanctioned so far for the bridge .
Md Sultan Mahmud,Bhangura Upazila Engineer said the construction of the bridge has been delayed due to the negligence of the previous contractors.
Md. Rezaul Karim, Executive Engineer of LGED Paban has been monitoring the progress of construction work.
Now , the work is going fast and it expected that by the first half of next year, the bridge will be opened to traffic and vehicular movement .
Then people of 50 villages of Bhangura, Chatmohar, Tarash and Ullahpara upazila will be benefited.
At the same time, this area will reduce the distance of 25 kilometers of the region with the capital city.
 One hundred 60 meter length has been started in the 2006-2007 fiscal year. The total allocation for the bridge was 6 crore and 82 lakh.
