The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday deferred the submission of the investigation report in the case filed in connection with the attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery at the city’s diplomatic zone in Gulshan. The new date is March 6.
Magistrate Nurunnahar Yasmin of the CMM Court passed the order as Inspector Humayun Kabir of Police
Counter-Terrorism Unit, who is also the investigation officer of the case, failed to submit the report on Sunday, as decided earlier.
On July 1, 2016, 20 hostages, including 17 foreign nationals and two police officers were killed in an attack by militants. Five militants and one suspected associate of the attackers were also killed during a commando operation into the cafe on July 2. The law enforcing agencies recovered 13 hostages alive.
On July 4, last year, Dhaka Metropolitan Counter Terrorism Unit filed the case with Gulshan Police Station of the capital accusing five militants and unknown persons under the Counter Terrorism Act.
