Guide books flood book market before text book

The unveiling of new books for eleven standard students (Session 2021-2022) is going to be held today. Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will inaugurate the ceremony at National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) office and on the same day the class of intermediate students will start. But before reaching the text books to the students the book market has been flooded by the guide and note books.
The NCTB approved Bangla, Bangla shohag path, English and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) books printing have been started, according to NCTB source.
Officials said, a large scale change has been brought to eleven grade curriculum. University of Dhaka’s (DU) Institute of Education and Research (IER) has conducted a survey at field level where they got the students difficulties over few English chapters and new curriculum replaced those by adding new topic.
New curriculum included topics way of life, Women’s progress and courage and others. As a result the size of the english book get more pages and adding price by Tk 5 while other books’ price remain unchanged.
NCTB has given permission to print about 4.2 million books of four subjects. Over this issue a tender was invited in December 2021.
After visiting few book markets in capital, it was seen that the markets have been flooded by the guide and note books before reaching of the text book to the students.
Few publishers have collected the manuscripts of text books through illegal way and readied this guide and note books in their printing press. The guardians are buying these note and guide books paying high price.
When asked over the issue, the NCTB chairman Professor Dr Farhadul Islam said I don’t have any information about guide and note book in the book market.
