Guho Convenor, Shachchu Member Secy of Swechchhasebok League

After barring of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebok League President Molla Abu Kausar and General Secretary Pankaj Devnath MP from the all activities of the organisation for their alleged involvement in casino business, high command of Bangladesh Awami League yesterday made Nirmal Ranjan Guho , Senior Vice -President and Gazi Mesbaul Hossain Shachchu , Joint Secretary.
of the organisation respectively the Convenor and Member Secretary of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebok League, a front organisation of Bangladesh Awami League till National Convention to be held on November 16 .
In the meantime , it is being discussed inside and outside of the organisation who is coming in the leadership of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebok League in the coming national convention amid drive against corruption and misdeeds of the some leaders of the front organisation . Besides, the massive preparation for the national convention is going on in full swing led by its Member-Secretary Gazi Mesbaul Hossain Shachchu.
 Sources said , the leaders who have clean image and outstanding career in politics particularly in Bangladesh Chhatra League are becoming the top leaders of the Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebok League .
 The President whose name are strongly being strongly discussed are : Nirmal Ranjan Guho presently Senior Vice President, Moinuddinin Moin, Vice-President and as General Secretary Gazi Mesbaul Hossain Shachchu , the only Joint Secretary of the organisation and presently Office -Secretary Tutul.
 Among them, Nirmal Ranjan Guho played active role in 1/11 period and now he is a Senior Vice-President, Gazi Mesbaul Hossain Shachchu was Vice -President of central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League for two terms and he was injured seriously in August 21 bomb blast . He was also Convenor of Greater Cantonment Thana Students Unity during Ershad regime
It is mentionable that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed Swechchhasebok League General Secretary Pankaj Devnath, also a lawmaker, not to take part in any activity of the organisation’s November 16 council.
Hasina, also the Awami League President, gave the instruction just a day after Molla Abu Kausar, President of Swechchhasebok League –the volunteer organisation of the AL — was relieved from his post.
The organisation was founded on July 27, 1994. Since its foundation, it has held only two councils.
The first council was held on July 27, 2003, where AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Pankaj Devnath were made president and general secretary respectively.
When Nasim became an organising secretary of the elected AL in 2009, the then vice President Molla Abu Kausar was made the volunteer organisation’s acting President and subsequently President.
The second council was held on July 11, 2012, where Kausar and Pankaj were then made president and general secretary respectively.
Pankaj was elected as MP from Barishal-4 in 2014 national election and then he was reelected from the same constituency in the last parliamentary polls.
Pankaj’s absence from the council will come at a time when wholesale changes are being made to the elected AL’s power structures. The Chhatra League president and general secretary were both relieved from their posts in recent times.
Jubo League Chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury was also relieved from his post. Ismail Chowdhury Samrat, president of Jubo League Dhaka (South) city unit, and Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, organising secretary of the unit, were also relieved from their posts for their controversial roles.
On 2007, Pankaj was jailed for 13 years for amassing illegal wealth and suppressing details about his income and assets following a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission. The current status of the case could not be known immediately.
Pankaj engaged in the transport business in 2009. He is the Chairman of Bihongo Paribahan, a minibus service company. He is also a member of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association. His company owns around 50 minibuses. Those are operated on Mirpur-Sayedabad, Mirpur-Azimpur and Mirpur-12 to Banani routes.
