GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Limited, in partnership with ‘Teach for Bangladesh’ recently organized Orange Day, an employee volunteering program to raise funds that will be used for renovating schools in the city. A day-long activity saw participation of GSK Bangladesh’s employees raising funds and actively participating in school renovating, said a press release.
Employees undertook community services by visiting ‘Islamia Primary School’ at Mirpur and ‘Siddique Miah Primary School’ at Kamrangichor in the capital.
During the course of the day employees raised funds and also painted the school premises along with setting up of water filters. The employees also got engaged with the students through interesting activities such as painting competition. This year’s program touched lives of over 500 children between the two schools.
Prashant Pandey, General Manager, GSK Bangladesh Ltd. said, “at GSK, our philosophy is to give back to the society and though “Orange Day” our employees undertake volunteering initiatives & help communities at large. This year’s Orange Day has been a great success where we partnered “Teach for Bangladesh” and reached out to over 500 children between the two schools in Dhaka. We hope to make this initiative bigger and better with every passing year”.
Launched in 2009, the Orange Day initiative allows all GSK employees to take one day off to volunteer with a charity or an NGO partner, either individually or with their team. Orange Day is on company time, and employees can choose any day to volunteer.
