Professor Jamal Ahmed, Professor of the Department of Drawing and Painting, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest, while Manzoor Hasan, Executive Director, Centre for Peace and Justice, Brac University also attended the opening ceremony as the special guest on the occasion.
While talking about arranging the exhibition one of the artists said, “The role of artists in the society is monumental. Truly there are no alternatives to practicing art when it comes to illuminating the social psyche. The social psyche comprises of manifold vantage points, needs, wants, and attention span that may sum up to an impenetrable wall of nourishes that only art can break through. So artists have to try to be very clear in articulating their purpose and sort of ‘ride’ their art where both expression and communication may manifest ideas in various cogitable forms. This art exhibition is an attempt at that.”
More than 30 artworks in various media such as water-colour, acrylic, oil, woodcut, mixed media, among others are put on display in the exhibition.
The participating artists from the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka are Afia Airin, Ajay Shanyal, Anika Tasnim, Shakil Mozumder, Purnia Mrittika, Shipra Bishwasand Rony Mandol.
The exhibition will continue till November 29. Visiting Hours: Monday to Thursday: 3:00pm to 9:00pm. Friday and Saturday: 9:00am to 12 noon and 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Sunday is closed. n
