Court Correspondent :A Dhaka Court yesterday (Monday) directed police to quiz BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the jail gate within 10 days in a case filed with Paltan Police Station.Magistrate Md Asaduzzaman Nur of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order rejecting both the bail petition filed on behalf of Mirza Fakhrul and the remand plea of the prosecution.Earlier, Dewan Ujjal Hossain, Sub-Inspector of Paltan Police Station and also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced the BNP leader in the court on completion of a five-day remand in another case, with a prayer for 10 days’ remand. Meanwhile, Mirza Fakhrul’s counsel Md Sanaullah Miah sought his bail.On January 5, miscreants hurled two crude bombs targeting a motorcycle of police sergeant Tanumoy Sikdar and set the vehicle on fire near Paltan Tower in the Purana Paltan area of the city. Mostak Ahmed, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Paltan Police Station, filed a case against 51 identified and 120-150 unidentified people in connection with the incident.BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Barkatullah Bulu, Amanullah Aman and Jatiya Party (JP) President Andaleeb Rahman Partha are included in the list of the accused.Mirza Fakhrul, now in custody, was earlier put on a five and three-day remands on February 3 and January 27 respectively in two other cases, filed under the Explosive Substances Act with Motijheel and Paltan Police Stations. On January 6, detective police arrested the BNP Acting Secretary General when he came out of the Jatiya Press Club after about 25 hours of stay there.
