Speakers at a discussion meeting on Tuesday stressed wider expansion of forestation for ensuring a sound habitation and to prevent the growing impact of climate change across the country.
They also said fruit gardening on red soil has attracted huge number of farmers in different parts of the country because of it’s prospect and successes already achieved by a lot of fruit farmers.
The observations were made in a discussion meeting titled, “Fruit Gardening on Red Soil and what to do to attain expected success”.
Green Heaven, a social and environmental organization organized the function to inaugurate an agriculture oriented organization named ‘Khokamia Krishisamachar’ and a library named, ‘Nasrin Samad Library’ at Talimghor, Hatibandha area of Shakhipur in Tangail.
Advocate Joaherul Islam (VP Joaher) MP, Tamgail-08 attended the inaugural ceremony as chief guest while renowned Agriculturists, local political leaders, administrative officers and local elites participated in the meeting.
More than 1000 Malta and Orange plants were distributed free of cost among the local farmers in the function.
Eminent Nephrologist and Chairman of KAMPS, Prof. Dr. MA Samad presided over the meeting.
Md Amin Sharif, Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Finance delivered address of welcome former Director, Department Agriculture Extension Md. Abdul Awal, Chairman, Shakhipur Upazila Parishad, Zulfiquer Haider Lebu, Mayor, Shakhipur Pourashava, Abu Hanif Azad, Convener of Green Heaven, Nasrin Begum and Executive Director of Green Heaven, Rezwan Salehin also spoke on the occasion among others.
