Traders reduced green chili price to Tk 42 from Tk 80 per kg during the Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam’s surprise visit to Uttara section-six kitchen market on Monday.
Consumers and witnesses said, traders of the kitchen market were selling chili at Tk 80 per kg. But when the DNCC mayor went the market as part of his Ramzan market monitoring, the traders started to sale chili at Tk 42 per kg.
During mayor’s visit, DNCC Executive Magistrate Sajeed Anwar fined a trader of the market Tk 15,000 because of not keeping price list in open place of the shop.
The magistrate fined Tk 40,000 to two traders due to selling items without labels.
Two traders fined Tk 30,000 for selling date expired products. DNCC Executive Magistrate fined two traders for selling items in footpath.
After mayor’s visit, executive magistrate continued his monitoring work.
He fined Tk 100,000 to Meenabazar to expose smoking advertisement.
The magistrate fined Tk 200,000 to several traders as they were selling products charging extra prices, and selling items out of BSTI approval.
