“In country’s film arena, if there was good introduction of Shabnaz and Naim I could not start my career in the big screen. Not only I but also Salman Shah, Moushumi, Shabnur, Ferdous, Riaz, Shakil, Poppy and Purnima could not start their career in the big screen. Shabnaz and Naim started a new era or path as a new pair among the young generation during that time. That was the beginning of a new era in our film industry. As a result, we started our career in films with much enthusiasm. Everybody’s presence at Chadni’s evening has really created hype among all,” popular film actor Omar Sunny said this while sharing his feelings at a grand get-together of movie Chadni under the banner of Chadni Shondhya.
Basically this get together was arranged to mark the silver jubilee of releasing Ehteshamur Rahman’s movie Chadni.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP was present as the chief guest in the programme which began at 8:00pm on November 19. Noted filmmaker Matin Rahman gave welcome speech. Later a documentary on Ehtesham and another on Shabnaz-Naim were screened.
In his speech the Cultural Affairs Minister said, “Shabnaz and Naim changed the traditional trend in films. For this later newcomers came into big screen with much enthusiasm. I am really glad to be present in this programme.”
Noted film directors Azizur Rahman, Syed Salauddin Jaki, younger brother of Ehtesham, grandson of director Mustafiz Umayer Siddique, younger daughter of Shabnaz-Naim Mahadia Naim, Moushumi and Ferdous spoke in the programme. Dithi Anwar and Protik Hasan rendered songs of Chadni on the occasion.
