Graft case against Justice Fazlul Haque to continue: HC

The High Court on Wednesday cleared the way for continuing the trial proceedings against former caretaker government adviser Justice Fazlul Haque in a case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for accumulating wealth illegally.

Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder passed the order rejecting a petition filed by Justice Fazlul Haque seeking cancellation of the case.The Special Judge Court of Dhaka is now recoding the testimonies of witnesses in the case. On April 13, 2008, the ACC filed a case with Ramna Police Station against Justice Fazlul Haque for accumulating wealth worth Tk 1.28 crore when he was serving as a caretaker government adviser. On January 14 last, he filed a petition with the High Court seeking cancellation of the trial proceedings of the case against him. Advocate Mansurul Haq Chowdhury stood for the petitioner while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the national anti-graft agency.
