The graduation parade and course conclusion drill of the 51st batch of Bangladesh Marine Academy held on Saturday at Academy Parade ground in Chittagong.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina witnessed the parade and education drill from Ganobhaban through video confernece and take salute of the parade. Minister for shipping Md. Shahjahan Khan MP was present on the occasion.
Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Ashoke Madhab Roy welcomed the marine cadets in the parade. Academy Commandant Sajid Hossain presided over the parade function.
Besides, Prime Minister also inaugurated the newly- constructed 6-storied Seafarers Lodge, 4-storied Female cadet block, Bangabandhu Techno Marine complex research centre, sculpture of victory, academy development project, 4-yrs honours course of Maritime Science under Bangabandhu Maritime University, and joint academic course with Sweden world maritime University.
The shipping minister in his brief deliberations said on average on cadet earns about Tk.10 crores in forex after completing his professional life and now the cadets so working in different foreign merchant vessels are extending foreign exchange about 200 million every year in national economy which brings the economy of the country viable .In 51st batch, 260 cadets completed graduation course in Nautical and Marine engineering.
Cadet Kazi Ferdous Sumon has been awarded with President Gold Award for his brilliant result in the batch, a sources said.
