Business Desk :
The employees union has alleged Grameenphone harasses its female employees so they leave the job, although the operator protests any allegation of harassment, calling it an attempt to tarnish the image of the company, said a press release.
Grameenphone Employees Union (GPEU) in a media statement said the operator transferred its 13 female employees outside Dhaka issuing an order through email.
“The email order has been sent after the week end office hours of Thursday and asked them (female employees) to join the new work place before Eid-Ul-Fitr,” it said. The GPEU said such a move of the authority has triggered strong discontent among the female employees who have been with the company since long.
The GPEU said GP has hired two outsourcing companies in 2017 for its call centre. The move of GP has downgraded quality of customer services alongside huge job cut.
“But, it seems the recent move (transfer) of GP was aimed to force the employees to leave the job as they didn’t do so earlier,” it said, adding, “Apparently, the top operator has started harassing female employees though it claims to be country’s most women friendly organization.”
