Liberation War Affairs Minister A K M Mozammel Haque said as a part of ‘My Village-My Town’ plan, the government will turn every village into town providing civic amenities including, electricity and gas, for the citizens.
“The government is working relentlessly to connect each village with major cities including the capital city Dhaka through road connectivity,” he said. The minister said this on Tuesday while inaugurating the 28 MVA power sub-station built at a cost of Tk 20 crore at Naojor Kodda Eidgah Maidan in Gazipur district.Through the sub-station, interrupted electricity will be provided to 11 villages, the minister said, adding that development works of Kasimpur and Konabari power stations are underway to upgrade the capability of those stations to 40 and 55 MVA respectively.
Two new sub-stations are being constructed in Kasimpur and three in Deoliabari spending Taka 60 crore to ensure continuous power supply at 30 villages across the country, he added.
With Gazipur City Corporation Ward-13 Councilor Khorshed Alam Sarkar in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by Rural Electrification Board Executive Engineer Rezaul Karim and Eminent educationist MA Bari.
