Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Saturday said that the government is working relentlessly to move forward the country’s economy as it is providing all necessary support to facilitate the private sector to flourish their businesses.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina doesn’t want the people of the country to suffer from anything the government is providing all necessary support for which the private sector could do their businesses. As a result, the country is moving towards a prosperous economy,” he said.
The Finance Minister was addressing a function after inaugurating the Bitumen Plant of Bashundhara Oil and Gas Company Limited as the chief guest in Keraniganj.
Expressing satisfaction and joy over the launching of the country’s first private sector Bitumen Plant by Bashundhara Group, Kamal said, “Earlier we had to import around 90 percent of our demand of bitumen. But, now we won’t need to import bitumen thanks to Bashundhara’s new plant. For this we’re delighted.”
Kamal said this is his firm belief that this bitumen would be exported abroad after meeting the local demand. He said with the production launching of new bitumen plant, Bashundhara Group is now planning to export it abroad after meeting the local demand adding that it’s a huge achievement for Bangladesh.
Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said, “The whole of the world now counts the economy of Bangladesh as the government is working tirelessly to build ‘Sonar Bangla’.”
He said under the tenure of the present government, employment opportunities have been created for thousands of people. Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan chaired the function, also attended, among others, by former Prof of BUET Dr M Shamim Z Basunia, Keraniganj upazila chairman Shahin Ahmed, Bashundhara Group Co-Chairman Sadat Sobhan Tanvir, vice chairman Sifat Sobhan Sanvir and managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.
