Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Saturday said the government is making relentless efforts to accelerate the pace of economic development by increasing productivity in all economic sectors along with agriculture.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion virtually titled “Productivity in Irresistible Progress” organised on the occasion of National Productivity Day-2021 at the ministry.
Nurul Majid said national economic growth does not depend on a particular sector rather it requires the overall progress and contribution of all sectors of the national economy. The benefits of productivity are enjoyed not only by the producers solely but also equally by all members of society, including government, employers, workers and consumers, he added.
Therefore, the spontaneous participation and commitment of all members of the society are essential to enjoy its benefits and the only way to ensure this, it needs to turn the productivity development programme into a national movement, the minister further said.
Speaking as the special guest, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said, “In order to maintain continuity in the development of the overall economy of Bangladesh, the comprehensive practice of policy strategies in the development of productivity is essential. Otherwise, sustainable development is not possible.”
